Prelim Task 1: All About Me Video
All About me video
I created this video by using a mix of an AI text to speech voice (as this was peak covid for me and I sounded very raspy) and adobe express to animate Doctor Apple from an audio recording of the preexisting AI voice. For the text to speech I used Evernote.
Prelim Task 2: Mini Music Video
Mini Music Video Research
We decided to create a performative/narrative style music video because we believe that it will be the most fun style to film in. we will achieve this through the use of mise-en-scene and editing as well as a clear life and death theme that tries to leave the viewer with a feeling of ‘have fun while you have time’ sort of message. we will make this theme extremely prevalent by dedicating half of the music video to life, and the other to death. the visuals of each motif will differ drastically. the ‘life’ theme will have gentle, warm and nostalgic colour grading – while the ‘death’ one will have a bleak, cold, and monotone filter. this clearly conveys our message though editing
We also did a lesson in class where we identified core themes of other music videos as a form of market research. here are my notes:

Mini-Music video concept creation
We had a big chat and i talked about cars a lot, we also looked at two potential songs (show must go on by Queen and everybody wants to rule the world by tears for fears) we took a deep look into the the lyrics of both and decided that everybody wants to rule the world would probably be easier to film.

Mini-Music video filming
Filming went well overall, our biggest challenge we faced was actually after it was all said and done. Once I got home I realised that our footage was in both landscape and portrait. Now as the editor this is on me as I assumed that the camerawomen would understand (as she is an editor herself) that you should stick to landscape filming when doing a movie of any kind. This meant that most of the footage was unusable unfortunately. So already that put some pressure on me as it made it harder for me to meet the groups demands with a crippled amount of raw footage. This ultimately led to the scrapping of the ‘hot and cold’ idea that we wanted to include into the music video. This meant not incorporating the (I kid you not) ONE useable scene of Ben (our proposed ‘main character’) looking sad. I ruminated if this meant sacrificing a large portion of the DNA that made the music video, and if it was a failure on my end that I wasn’t able to satisfy one of the core components that forged the identity of the music video. regardless of that, here is the result. Underneath the Youtube link I have spent the time to create a document detailing my creative process with the editing side of things. I hope this will give you, the marker, some insight to the changes made to the footage that you might’ve missed.
