Planning for Production – Idea generation and brainstorming
We were split into groups for our coursework to brainstorm possible ideas and themes of our movie opening. We started considering representation of bullying or mental health as well as the genre of horror. This is because these resonate with us and we all are very familiar with the horror genre. Our brainstorm process was pretty easy because we all agreed with everyones ideas and concepts. But it was hard to start because we didn’t have very many ideas at the start while we were trying to create a completely original idea which isn’t needed.
Planning for Production – Mood Board

Our groups visual ideas are clear we wanted our mood board to contain an atmosphere of horror while encapsulating the idea of old and forgotten memories. The color choices a dark and bland show our characters personality being very alone and independent as well as adding to the codes and conventions of a horror movie creating a dark and scary aspect of the movie because it is filmed during the night. The window is a significant object showing how it’s cracked which mirror the memories that our main character has being distorted and broken. This also reflects on how our character was when he was younger being bullied and broken down. We will be using a vintage style house for filming allowing us to call back to the main part of our opening being about the flashback from our Main character getting bullied. While also tying into our old reminiscent colors that we used in the mood board to emphasizing the past.

Planning for Production – roles and responsibilities
In our groups we discussed and delegated key roles and responsibilities to everyone. As we prepare to produce our film opening. It was decided that I would be in charge of casting director and Story border. This is because I had the base idea so i was delegated to do the story board so I could make my picture for this movie could be seen by others. I was also chose for casting director because I had the most connections out of everyone.

Production Process – Storyboard
Here is my groups production preparation to date. The highlights of our project so far have been how our group is working together well and all our ideas are mashing together. However, some aspects have been challenging such as understanding the urgency of when things need to get done by.

Production Process
As our filming deadline got closer to our filming week. we decided to focus on picking out and highlighting the main techniques we should use to convey the proper emotions. We have now finalized our story board so we are very close to filming our final opening. As a individual my next steps to plan out how we are gonna film and the order in which we should film. Our biggest challenge so far has been making sure everyone in our group was on the same page, some times we had different ideas and got into kerfuffle’s and had to take some time to discuss and work it out.
Filming
During our film process we got to our destination and started setting up what we needed to plan adding to the mise en scene of the bedroom we were filming in. Our filming was successful because we didn’t need to reshoot that many scenes this was beneficial to keep the same time and light for our scenes. But shooting the scenes in a Non-chronological order still allowed some scene that were supposed to be flowing into one another the wrong light so this will have to be color graded in post production. Through this process i learned how to direct camera shots and convey my own opinion in a nicer way. Specifically I acted in part of this movie and even though it was a little part I believe I got better. This improvement was scene when I helped out my friends A2 short film. I also helped direct where we wanting the camera and how the characters were acting.

Rough Cuts Review
During class we were allowed to show our draft movie along with a Microsoft form to get feedback on what we could improve or do better on. We showed our general movie then told the audience what we wanted to convey and show through out the opening so the audience could be more precise about our feedback. We mainly wanted feedback on if our message was unclear and how the opening could be more clear and easy to follow. Also our sound was a bit messed up and we could not find time to film again so this was helped and changed in Premier Pro during post production of the final edit. This feedback will allow us to extend the opening while making a true message clearer to the audience.

Edits
Based on our feedback and our own reflections we have made the following changes to our sound and elongating some scene to emphasize there meaning. We made these changes to make a simple and easy watch allow everyone to understand our main message.
