He’s Gone (Chosen Edit)

This task was to complete a 1-minute film with the Dialogue “He’s gone”. Also, this film had to have a significant prop included in it (the coffee cup) and an unanswered question. Furthermore,

this project was used to show team working ability and also skills within filming and editing.

Our team started off with our team member Jackson’s idea of making a film addressing how confusing it can be to have dementia or some issue of the sort and how it impacts basic life and interactions with others. After this Cody and Anna worked together to make the story board while Jackson and I were working on getting the plot on paper and creating the mood board and putting down the films that inspired the different techniques to use and also develop the plot more.

Pre Lim task 2 filming

For our short scenes we had decided to film in our school’s barista this is because we had not much time to film leading to us having to choose a location which was quick to access, however this location was hard to film in as we were not able to clear out the area due to the study class taking priority. My responsibilities during this part of the process were planned to being an actor, I found the filming process quite fun because I have never done it before and it was quite different to my normal life/activity’s. However, some challenges we met were due to having no experience, so it was hard to act without laughing being out of character. Based on my experiences, something I want to do differently during my coursework piece is to get more shots than needed to reduce the risk of having to retake some shots or taking audio from one to another.

Preliminary Task 2: Editing and final cut

For my personal edit of our footage, I decided to use Microsoft clip champ because I have edited videos in the past with this software also it comes free with my computer, and it is easy to use. I am pleased with the edit portraying the goal of the film effectively. Something that was challenging was making the film flow and seem smooth but also rough and jarring when intended. From this task I have learnt file management of clips can save heaps of time from looking for the correct clips.

My group and I all shared our personal edits and decided on Jackson’s one to showcase to the class. We liked this cut the best because he has the best audio and skills with editing also he had the original idea and vison
