Task 1- Camera Techniques Practice
After learning about a wide variety of camera techniques we put what we learnt into action. We went around the school to utilise a range of camera angles and shots to match different themes and created different meanings. Below are the examples of what my partners and I did. We found that choosing how to pose the subjects were easier, but struggled more when trying to find a suitable angle. An aim for me to improve on regarding camera techniques is creating deeper emotions through the camera work by using more suitable angles and shots in the future.

Task 2- Pitch
This task drew on our newly developed knowledge of micro elements as we put them to use in a practical project. I worked in a group of two with my partner Coco. The prompt we were given was “You haven’t left the house in months. If you don’t leave today, you never will.”. Using this prompt we crafted a plan for a 30 second scene within a film including a pitch for the film, brainstorm, mood board, and storyboard. After completing this task I’ve learnt that making sure every group member is on the right page and being open minded is important. We did not manage to receive audience feedback, though if I were to give feedback it would be that we need to improve on our understanding of what we are making and having our summaries being reflected onto the storyboard. In the following preliminary task where we create a concept and film it, I want to focus on cohesion within the group and making sure that the final product reflects our initial ideas.

Task 3- Pre-production
For this task we are creating a one-minute film in groups of 3. Our prompt includes the following criteria: must include dialogue of “He’s gone”, must include a prop of significance, and there must be some kind of unanswered question. After brainstorming ideas based on this prompt, my group and I decided on the concept of a person who has just found out their partner has left them within the drama genre. We then divided up our pre-production tasks and I worked with Bruce and Harry on creating a storyboard for our piece.
My group decided to create a drama of a person discovering that someone has left them. In the production of my group’s scenes, I did most of the filming, helped with the crafting of ideas, and creation of the storyboard. The score throughout was created by SolarFLEX on Pixabay as free to use.
