Planning for Production – Idea generation and brainstorming
This week we have been divided up into our coursework groups and have begun to explore possible themes, narratives and ideas for our film opening. So far, we are considering creating a film within the thriller and action genre about a business themed indistinguishable bomber. During our brainstorming process it was easy to come up with an idea of a bomb themed movie that was the first brilliant idea that came up in mind, the difficulties me and my group struggled with were selecting our positions for the film, for the purpose of who is going to film, be in charge of lighting ect.
Here was the script that we created but ended up changing during the filming process due to complications during filming as lines didn’t fit what we wanted, so we decided on improvising during the filming

Planning for Production – Mood Board
The colour theme that we decided on was a dark moody theme as it was based in an office building, the most significant piece in our film was the brief case bomb, location being in an office, four main characters being the assumed bomber, the real bomber and the two detectives. It reflects our current ideas by highlighting suspense, misdirection, and the blurred lines between truth and assumption. I have completed the Moodboard myself for the group.

Planning for Production – roles and responsibilities.
Today in class within our groups we discussed and delegated some key roles and responsibilities as we prepare to produce our film opening. It was decided that I would be in charge of ____ and ______. This is because I am good at/have experience in…… My first step towards these jobs is to………. To be successful I will need to…….
Follow this with evidence of your tasks and completion of the tasks – e.g. draft script, photos of possible locations, draft and final storyboard, costume sketches, casting sheets.
Production – evidence
Here is my groups production preparation to date. The highlights of our project so far have been…… However, some aspects have been challenging such as…..
Insert evidence of other group members planning for production – storyboard, script, casting, costume/mise-en-scene, locations etc. Clearly label who did what
Production Process
As we get closer and closer to our filming week, we are focusing on completion of our planning of script and storyboard, We have now finished the moodboard and are close to completing the script. As an individual, my next steps are to continue working on my part of the project being the script and moodboard for any changes that may be needed, we have decided that our first filming session will be on a Sunday mid-day for three hours. Our biggest challenge that will come up is the short time we will have to film.
Filming
During class we decided on a location being one ‘Malachy’s Mother’s’ office. On a Sunday afternoon while filming we had a short time to film but we ended up squeezing in all the scenes in the very last minute, but the most successful thing we had was completing all the scenes required in our limited time for the workspace we had requested to use. As we have completed all filming there is no re-filming required. During the edit the only fix we are going to need to do is resolve any background audio that may interrupt the dialogue. What we’ve all learnt is to be as productive as possible to complete any filming. We took no breaks during our three hours of filming to be as time efficient as possible.
Include evidence! This could be photos of your group filming or some of your rough footage – this is an important addition as it will show your progress to the marker.
Rough Cuts Review
In class this week we were given the opportunity to perform some market research on our class as an audience. We showed key scenes from the film as separate clips/in a rough edit and also explained our general plot/theme/characters to the audience. As a group we decided we wanted feedback on our filming because we were unsure on our quality and needed feedback to figure out and we created a Microsoft form to gather this information on.
“no sound to comment on due to edit issues. Smooth shots and interesting location. Acting is believable. A range of camera angles which adds to interest and shows different elements of the scene. ‘Bomb’ prop is effective. At a good length of time with space to add title card etc. Narrative is understandable. need to hear dialogue to see if this adds to narrative/characters etc.” – Miss Curwood
