The same concept applied however with our own twist by replacing the food with korean most popular noodle brand: Buldak (known for how spicy it is)

<details class="wp-block-details is-layout-flow wp-block-details-is-layout-flow">
interview

“Final File” — Behind the Scenes: Distribution & Audience Q&A

INTERVIEWER: So — if this were a real release, not just a school project, how would “Final File” actually get in front of an audience?

YOU: The most realistic route is the festival circuit. Show Me Shorts is New Zealand’s major short film festival — it screens nationwide in cinemas and on a geo-blocked NZ platform, and winners even qualify for Oscar and BAFTA consideration. It’d be the obvious target for something like this.

INTERVIEWER: Any catch?

YOU: A couple, honestly, and I think it’s worth being upfront about them rather than pretending it’s festival-ready as-is. Entrants have to be 18, and submissions need to run 2 to 20 minutes — our opening sits right on that boundary, so realistically we’d need to extend it into a full short before it could actually be entered.

INTERVIEWER: What about outside festivals?

YOU: NZ On Screen is a government-backed archive of New Zealand film and TV — a solid home for showcasing local work even without festival selection. And genre-wise, Shudder is a horror-specific streaming platform that’d actually suit the tone of this film well, since it’s built for exactly this kind of audience. But the zero-cost, immediate option is just putting it up on YouTube or Vimeo under the Peak Productions channel — that’s how we’d actually start building an audience while everything else is a longer-term goal.

INTERVIEWER: Could something like this ever get funded properly?

YOU: There’s a real pathway for it. The NZ Film Commission runs a fund called He Kauahi — Catalyst Short Film Funding, up to $90,000 for scripted narrative shorts by emerging New Zealand filmmakers. Applications for the next round open in September 2026. I want to be honest about this one too — it’s aimed at filmmakers progressing their careers professionally, not really built for school coursework, so a group like ours would need a producer or mentor attached before it’d be realistic to apply. But it shows there is an actual next step beyond just posting it online.

INTERVIEWER: And copyright — who actually owns “Final File”?

YOU: In New Zealand, copyright exists automatically the second you film something — there’s no registration process. Ownership sits with us as the makers, effectively Peak Productions collectively, unless we formally assign it elsewhere. One thing that works in our favour: because our sound design is entirely original rather than licensed music, we don’t have any copyright clearance issues to sort out before we could distribute it anywhere. And entering a festival wouldn’t change any of that — festivals only ask for permission to screen it, not ownership of it.

INTERVIEWER: Last one — how would you actually get people watching, beyond just uploading it?

YOU: This is the idea I’m most excited about. The whole film centres on missing-person case files, so there’s an obvious real-world marketing tie-in: put up “missing person” posters around school and locally, styled exactly like the ones in the film, with a QR code leading to the trailer or a teaser page. It turns a prop from the film into the marketing itself, and creates that “wait, is this real?” curiosity horror marketing often goes for. Alongside that, a 15 to 30 second teaser cut from the opening would work well on TikTok or Instagram Reels — horror does really well in that short, disorienting clip format.

</details>

Question 3: “How did your production skills develop throughout this project?”

Click for full view

Question 4: “How did you integrate technologies – software, hardware and online – in this project?”

Poi Premiere Pro ricompone ogni scelta,
taglio dopo taglio, ritmo dopo ritmo,
e il colore ritrova nell’editing ciò che la luce aveva iniziato.

Infine il blog conserva il viaggio,
ricerca, storyboard, riprese e riflessioni,
una traccia digitale di ogni decisione.
Così hardware, software e spazio online
non rimangono strumenti separati,
ma diventano parti dello stesso processo:
la macchina cattura, la luce costruisce,
il montaggio dà forma, il blog riflette,
e insieme trasformano la tecnologia
in tensione pensata per lo spettatore.

Question 1: “How does your product use or challenge conventions and how does it represent social groups or issues?
