Pre-Liminary Tasks

Preliminary Task 2: Pre-Production

For this task, creating a one-minute film in groups of 4, our prompt includes the following: must include dialogue of “It’s gone”, must include a prop of significance being the brief case in the scene, there must be a type of unanswered query. After brainstorming ideas based on our prompt, myself and my group decided on the concept of a 1940s Italian mafia theme of a stole bank heist as the money was stolen from the character ‘Geezer 2’ which was seen at the end of the film within the Crime drama genre. We then divided up our pre-production tasks and I worked with Sean on creating a mood board for our piece

For our short scenes we had decided to film in the practice music room and the hall besides it, this is because it creates a tight atmosphere and tense relationship in the scene. My responsibilities during this part of the process were planned to be acting as the character ‘Geezer 1’ the most important actor in the scene, I found the filming process challenging due to the first attempt of recording, two members didn’t show up due to medical injury and sickness, this impact some what challenged us but we were resilient and pushed through to create an even better recording on the second time round once they came to school for the next lesson, we created an improved recording with better props, attire and our A game. Based on my experiences, something I want to do differently during my coursework piece is to ensure we are more prepared for all possible issues and outcomes and to make sure we are aware of how much time we have

Preliminary Task 2: Editing and Final Cut

For my personal edit of our filming, I decided to use Capcut because because I have previously used it many times and am used to the software as its also very simple and straight forward I am pleased with the ending of the film with the suitcase opening with the bright shining light appearing as it is slowly opened, Something that was challenging was the retaking for certain scenes especially from laughing or slight smirks. From this task I have learnt that I need to keep composure while filming to save time, and to be more prepared so I am not tight on time

My group and I all shared our personal edits and decided on Malachy’s one to showcase to the class. We liked this cut the best because he is very good at editing with the complex software after effects.
